Inland Unemployment Drops To 14.2 Percent

Unemployment declined a half-point in Inland Southern California in November, and the region saw some long-awaited job growth for the second month in a row, the state reported Friday. The jobless rate of 14.2 percent in Riverside and San Bernardino counties, down from an all-time high in October, is the lowest since June. And the job growth in the two-county area in November goes beyond the expected holiday hiring in malls, warehouses and other consumer-related areas. This gives economists hope that the Inland economy has stopped deteriorating and is in position for a rebound. All told, the region saw 6,000 new jobs that were not seasonal.
