Tourism Act Could Help Grand Strand

Amid legislative gridlock over health care, Congress has found one thing it can agree on: tourism. The Senate and House passed the final version of the Travel Promotion Act in late February. President Obama signed it into law Thursday. Local and state business leaders are hailing the act as a major step forward for U.S. tourism that will also boost international travel to South Carolina and the Grand Strand. “Any time we can promote tourism, whether a specific area or to the United States, it’s a good thing,” said Cathy Altman, president of the Brunswick County, N.C, Chamber of Commerce. “Hopefully people will learn about Brunswick County and want to visit.” [Read this article]
